References you paste are parsed in your browser and sent only to public scholarly APIs (Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Europe PMC, PubMed, DataCite, DBLP, arXiv, Open Library, Google Books, DOAJ, Unpaywall); some requests pass through an AILatest edge proxy that only caches responses and does not log them. They are not written to AILatest servers or databases.

To apply the daily limits we keep an anonymous per-day count (an irreversible hash of your IP, or your account email) that expires the next day; your browser also stores the day’s count locally.
